SEQUEL TO CAPSIZE
MILFORD GIRL’S DEATH EVIDENCE AT INQUEST Special to THE SUN HAMILTON, Wednesday. An inquest into the circumstances of the death of Miss Iris Rose Blackwell, 23, of Audrey Street, Milford, was held by the coroner, Mr. F. w. Platts, S.M., today. Miss Blackwell was injured at Mangaiti on March 15 when the side-car she was riding capsized, and she died in the AVaikato Hospital live days later. Dr. M. M. Hockiu, medical superintendent of the Waikato Hospital, said that Miss Blackwell died on the day after admission from toxaemia and heart failure, following shock. If she had been admitted to the hospital earlier, her chances of recovery would have been greater. Norman Frank Morton, motor mechanic, of Auckland, said that witli Miss Blackwell in the side-car of the motor-cycle, he left Auckland on March 15 for AVaihi. AVlien approaching a railway crossing ou the PaeroaTe Aroha main road, the motor-cycle skidded and overturned, deceased being pinned down by the side-car. She was taken to a private hospital in Te Aroha and examined by a doctor, who reported that he found no serious injuries. Her condition did not improve during the next few days, however, and she was dent to the AA'aikato Hospital.
A verdict of accidental death in accordance with the medical evidence was returned by tbe coroner, who remarked that there was no evidence to attach blame to anyone.
