MUSICIANS SEEK AWARD
UNION IN COURT WELLINGTON, Tuesday. A council of conciliation met today to consider the claims for a new award made by the Association of Musicians, i Ihe proceedings were taken in committee and considerable progress was made in arranging matters of minor | importance. Difficulty, however, was experienced by the parties in fixing the scope over which the union should operate. The union requested that it should v \ , : the whole of the Dominion, while the employers contended that the clause in the present award was sufficient, inasmuch as the principal businesses were carried on in the cities of "Wellington. Auckland. Christchurch and Dunedin. If this difficulty can be overcome there is a reasonable prospect that the majority of the important clauses will be agreed upon.
