ROTORUA NOTES
Rotarian O. H. Coleman, fresh from the Rotary conference at Chateau Tongariro, briefly outlined his impressions at Monday’s luncheon of the Rotorua Club. He stressed the feeling of sincerity of those with whom he was associated, particularly that of the Japanese delegates. On the Wairoa Road, undergoing reconstruction and repairs, Mr. A. Baker, contractor, has placed 4,000 yards ot material and Murray Bros, have removed 20,000 yards of spoil. The loop road through Okareka is being used while the portion of the main road from the turn-off to Lake Rotokakahi receives attention. Yesterday’s heavy showers will greatly aid consolidation on all roads under repair. The Hon. W. B. Taverner will shortly be coming to Rotorua to take advantage of treatment to his injured knee. The Putaruru Town Board and other bodies wish to discuss with departmental officers the question of land settlement and forestry as it affects the Taupo Timber Company’s tramline and transport to Tokaroa. The Hon. G. W. Forbes is now obtaining a report and Mr. Taverner will meet those interested during his stay.
