AMERICAN FILOT CROSSES CONTINENT GOES 600 MILES DAIL.Y United P.A.—By Telegraph Copyright Reed. 9.30 a.m. BUFFALO, Sunday. Frank Hawks has almost completed a trans-Continental glide. Three times since last Sunday, when he started from Los Angeles, j his tow-line from an airplane broke, j but he merely glided to earth, and made perfect landings. He made 500 to 600 mile- daily, sleeping at an hotel each night. Today he came from Indianopolis, slipped the tow-rope at 5,000 ft altitude, and dropped down half an hour later in the front of the hangar - .
