BIBLE STUDENTS

ACTIVITIES OF INSTITUTE SUCCESSFUL EVENING CLASSES The report presented at the annual meeting of the New Zealand Bible Training Institute, held in the Baptist Tabernacle on Thursday showed there were 57 resident students and four non-resident, 29 being women. The diploma had been won by 27 graduates, of whom five had alreadv left for foreign mission work. The financial statement showed a credit balance of £9B. The chairman, Mr. R. L. Stewart, commented on the growing membership and increasing importance of the institute’s work. Of the graduates, oO per cent, had been placed in mission services. A successful innovation had been the establishment of evening classes, of which there was a total number of 120. Addresses on the work and on the inspiration to be found in the activities of the institute were given by Miss M. R. McGregor and Mr. F Ridgeway. The Rev. Evan R. Harries congratulated the institute on its record of work, and the Rev. Joseph W. Kemp spoke of his association with Mr. Robert Porteous, whose capture by* Chinese bandits had been reported by cable. The retiring members, Mr. Kemp Dr. W. H. Pettit, and Mr. W. J. Mains! were re-elected to the directorate. Items were given by the students* choir and the male quartet.
