HOTEL EMPLOYEES’ AWARD
RIGHT TO INTERVIEW MEMBERS Press Association WELLINGTON, Today. The Arbitration Court is hearing a claim for a new award by the Hotel and Restaurant Workers’ Union in which right of entry to interview employees once a week is demanded. This is resisted by employers who do not object to an individual employer agreeing with the union for periodical visits, but claim the right for him to decide whom he will allow on his premises. The power of the court to make any such provision is also questioned, and the opinion of Sir Charles Skerrett is quoted in support. The employers’ representative suggested that the point should bo submitted to the Appeal Court.
