HOSPITAL FOR TE AROHA
REQUEST TO MINISTER ■Special to THE .SUN TE AROHA, Friday. A request for a hospital to be reeled in Tc Aroha was made to the Minister of Health, the Hon. A. J. Stall worthy, yesterday, by a deputation headed by the Mayor, Mr. R. A. Coulter. Dr. T. I r. A. Valintinc, Director-Gen-eral of Health, advised the deputation to drop the request for a general hospital. “We have quite enough hospitals in New Zealand, but not enough maternity hospitals,” he said. “I am perfectly sure the Minister would be prepared to consider advising the^Waikato Hospital Board of the a maternity hospital at Te Aroha.” Mr. Coulter thereupon asked Mr. St all worthy to assist in the provision of a maternity hospital with a casualty ward.
Dr. Valintinc: You are within 35 miles of one of the best administered hospitals in the Dominion. -
The deputation said this viewpoint \ ; s not always appreciated by sufferers compelled to travel to Hamilton ever rough roads in an ambulance.
The Minister promised to take the subject up with the Waikato Board with a view to meeting the wishes of the deputation.
