HAGEN AND KIRKWOOD

JL SYDXEY, Wednesday. Walter Hagen and J. H. Kirkwood played a four-ball, best-ball match at the Concord links today against W. Dobson and T. Howard. The conditions were ideal and there was a large gallery. Hagen and Kirkwood won 5 up and 4. Although Hagen was new to the course he equalled the record of 70. Kirkwood had a' stroke round of 66. It was his day of triumph. His approaching and putting were sensational and virtually decided the match. Kirkwood’s figures were:—Out. 33; in, 33. He never exceeded par figures and included four birdies. With Kirkwood in superb form Hagen was not often called upon for a vital effort, but he effected some master strokes, for instance, an eagle at the seventh, 460 yards, in three.
