ANNUAL INTER-FACULTY MEETING
MORGAN RUNS WELL Of special importance because the team to represent Auckland at the New Zealand University tournament at Easter will be selected on the form shown, the InterFaculty championship meeting of the Auckland University College was held at the Domain yesterday afternoon. Intermittent showers spoilt what had promised to be an interesting afternoon’s sport, by dislocating the programme. Weather conditions were against fast times, and as a result the rimes generally were of a very ordinary nature. There was one exception, however, in the final of the 100yds championship when, in winning in jO 2-osec,’ O. R. Morgan (Arts and Commerce) went within 1-5 of a second of the record, lb l-ss, and the time put up by himself last season. The field had to run into a southerly wind, ai*i but for this the record would have been equalled. p. C. Minns (Arts and Commerce), one of the 1930 Rhodes Scholars, filled second place in the 100yds and 200yds championship, and running a brilliant race, took the 440yds championship. From the start. G. G. L. McLeod (Science and Engineering) took the lead, and with Minns following close behind, he held it for 220yds. Minns then went to the front, and despite a srrong challenge by McLeod, hung on to it, to win comfortably after a determined sprint down the straight. COLLEGE STAFF CUP Two trophies are awarded on the results of the inter-faculty sports, the Inter-Faculty Shield, for the faculty gaining the largest number of points in championship events, and the College Staff Cup, for the individual performer who gains the greatest number of points.
