LAST CAMP ENDS
MILITARY TRAINING AT NGARUAWAHIA COMBINED MANOEUVRES The final detachment of military trainees for the year will return to Auckland this afternoon after spending ten days under canvas at Ngaruawahia, where the casual camp of the Ist Battalion, the Auckland Regiment, has been held. The camp had been arranged for Narrow Neck and was. to have been from yesterday to Saturday, April 12. It was decided to begin a week earlier and combine in certain manoeuvres with territorials from the Waikato and other districts south of Auckland at the Ngaruawahia base. There were also in camp mounted units from both Waikato and North Auckland. The field day was held on Tuesday last, when all divisions co-operated in battle training. Major-General R. Young, Officer Commanding the New Zealand Forces, watched the manoeuvres and commended the men on their excellent work. On Saturday the mounted units held their sports meeting, the programme including tent-pegging, musical chairs and other novelty numbers. The Auckland men held a tabloid athletic meeting j^esterday.
