ROW IN A TAXI

McCONACHY AND SMITH RIVALS AT LAW STILL PLAYING IN MATCH LONDON, Tuesday. The dispute between Willie Smith (England) and Clark MeConachy (New Zealand), two noted billiards players, which culminated in Smith issuing a summons against McConachy for assault and threats, is now explained. The two men are engaged in a match. They were on good terms until the afternoon session yesterday, at the end of which a discussion arose in the dressing room about the weight of balls used. It was decided to end the argument by having the balls weighed. The players and the refere,e took a taxi and started for the office of the firm to which the players are under contract for the purpose of weighing the balls.

The alleged incidents leading to the summons occurred on the way, when the taxi was held up in a traffic block.
