POSTER EXHIBITION

PROPOSAL BY SOCIETY OF ARTS This year the Auckland Society of Arts proposes to hold a poster exhibition. The work will all be by local artists and will be competitive. There will be competitions for students as well as for the mature artist, and some interesting work is expected. Poster art has developed tremendously during the past few years and most of the celebrated English and Continental artists have turned their attention to this bold and attractive method of expressing themselves in colour and design. A recent exhibition of copies of posters by English artists in Auckland created considerable interest and it will be interesting to see whs.t is being done by the artists and designers of Auckland. The date of the poster exhibition has not yet been decided, nor has the date of the society’s annual exhibition.
