LONDON IS GREATEST PORT IN WORLD MEAT AND WOOL FIGURES LONDON, Monday. The 21st annual report of the Port of London Authority lays emphasis on the fact that London is the most extensive port in the world. It extends 69 miles and includes 170 miles of docks and wharves. The docks alone have a water area of 723 acres. Some of them take vessels which draw 37 feet. London’s overseas trade amounts to £700,000,000 a year. More wool is brought here than to any other port in Britain and 70 per cent, of Britain’s meat is handled at London
