LIQUOR FOR PARTY
THEFT FROM EMPTY HOUSE LABOURER PLEADS GUILTY Lacking liquor for a party, Raymond. Trevor Child, aged 21, a labourer, broke into the house of Mr. G. W. Hutchison in Portland Road. Remuera, on March 22 and stole four bottles of whisky, three booties of vermouth, and two gold rings valued at £ 7 3s 6d. In the Police Court yesterday he pleaded guilty and was committed to the Supreme Court for sentence. A statement made by accused was produced by Acting-Detective Kemn. Child said that he had left home at 7 o’clock on the night in question to meet another man. Each had taken a number of drinks during the day and he himself had taken along a flask of whisky, which he drank. Deciding that I more liquor was wanted they went to j Mr. Hutchison’s house, which he knew to be empty at the time. He broke a I glass panel in the front door and stole j the drink while the other man secured | two rings, one of which he gave to ac- | cused. The whisky was wanted for a j party.
