TWO BIG PICTURES Glen Tryon reaches new heights as a comedian in “Skinner Steps Out.” Universal’s uproarious farce-comedy which is now at the Plaza Theatre. It is an all-talking picture. “Skinner Steps Out” is an ideal vehicle for the unique fun-making talents of the famous comedian. The story deals with the efforts of a young couple to advance themselves in the business and social world. Merna Kennedy again is paired with Tryon, as in “Broadway” and “Barnum Was Right.” She has never done better work than in “Skinner Steps Out.” From her first appearance on the screen, Miss Kennedy, in the role of “Honey,” steps squarely into the hearts of her audience through her winsome charm and naive appeal. The Plaza’s programme includes another big attraction in “The Sky Hawk,” direct from the Civic Theatre. “The Sky Hawk.” a thrilling tale of the Zeppelin raids over London, and packed with excitement, is one of the best aviation dramas yet seen in Auckland. John Garrick (Reginald has the leading role.
