NEW DEPARTURE JOCKEYS WIND UP WITH TROTTERS Jockey F. Waddell, who rode Simper’s progeny when they collected classics galore, will next be seen seated behind trotters. D. C. Watts has had a great run in the light-harness sport and yet another horseman, L. G. Morris, won a couple of saddle events—and later broke his collarbone, thus missing some easy rides on Commendation. These are a few of our recent jockeys. A. J. Julian, who rode many a good winner over fences, still turns out winners at Alexandra Park and success in this , line has also come the way of other old-time horsemen. ELLERSLIE TRAINING THIS MORNING’S WORK Training operations at Ellerslie this morning were practically restricted to horses with engagements at the Waikato meeting next week, while a few which left for Whangarei this morning were given useful work. The course proper, with the pegs 60ft out, and No.. 2 grass were both available. No. 2 Grass Norval Tea sprinted half a mile in 50 2-5, hitting out nice and freely. She will find five furlongs at Whangarei to her liking and will need to travel far to meet a weaker class. Corinax and Gemlight were associated over a round, leaving the journey behind in 1.52 3-5. The former went very evenly, and Gemlight, too, is doing his work attractively in view of his engagement in the Cup at the Waikato meeting. Eager Rose strode over seven furlongs in 1.36 1-5, but she was not bustled and could have done better. Foot Rule was restricted to an easy three furlongs in 43 3-5, and Hampton Park covered a furlong further in 51. This two-year-old has bright prospects at the impending Waikato fixture. Gold Money jumped away at the six furlong post, but at the end of a furlong was steadied and allowed to come home at three-quarter pace. Avon Court carved out half a mile steadily, not being after time. On the course proper Tetrarehate and Royal Lover disposed of five furlongs in 1.7 2-5, the former having a head the best of the argument and doing it well. TIDAL A COT CASE j United P..4. — 8y Telegraph—Copyright SYDNEY, Monday. The New Zealand horse Tidal has ! broken down and probably will be i withdrawn from th© Sydney Cup.
