Jolly Evening at Dixieland
Many Young People at Ca ba re t-by-the-Sea Saturday evening was quite ideal for dancing, and a large number of young people journeyed to Dixieland to spend the evening. Mr. Harry Xeilson and the Dixieland Band presented several new numbers, including “Dream Lover and "Ihe Love Parade.’* A demonstration of the 1930 waltz and quick-step given by Miss Bettina Edwards and Mr. Crawford Norris, of the Cecil Hall School of Dancing, was particularly enjoyed. AMONG THOSE PRESENT Mrs. J. P. Walker had on a shrimp pink taffeta faille gown. . Mrs. F. McKay chose flowered chiffon with a clasp of brilliants. Mrs. C. Fraser was wearing an uneven length frock of black crepe de soie. Mrs. Davis, Timaru, wore a dinstmctive gown of primrose georgette, the frilled skirt being defined with narrow black roulet. Miss Audrey Alison chose a pretty frilled frock of palest primrose chirron A shimmering sequined frock in shades of water green and gold was worn by Miss Ellice Alison. Miss Joan Hudson’s smart frock was of silver metal lace worn over black georS€ Miss Janet Clarkson was wearing a flowered chiffon frock in black, rose and jade siiades. . , _ A smart shoulder cape distinguished the gown <>f phlox pink satin worn by Miss Jean Macindoe. Miss Tweet Macindoe had on cherry georgette mounted oil cloth of silver. Miss Mary Mitchell was wearing a larkspur blue georgette frock. Miss Molly Gifford’s frock was of genj tian blue georgette. I A shoulder spray of pale pink carnations was worn by Miss Bettina Edwards on the corsage of her pretty ivory lacc and georgette frock. Miss Friediander chose floral nmon ir black and flame colourings. Miss Beryl Heap had on an unever length frock of black crepe de soie. j Miss X. Johnston was wearing a daiI fodil yellow chiffon frock. ! Miss Rona Gifford chose a frock ol i pompadour pink satin beaute. Miss Noble wore a black georgette ' frock embroidered with jet beads. | Miss Olive Pearson had on a flesh pinl i georgette gown. Vivid pointsettia red georgette fashioned the frock worn by Miss Sybil Scott Miss Edna Wigg had on a black polkaclotted net frock with rose pink shouldei fcP Miss Thelma Ogilvie’s frock was ol cameo pink chenille embossed georgette Miss Gretta llerron was wearing s chiffon frock, combining black and burgundy red.. . , , , R. Miss Roma Ashman, Christchurch, won a white lace frock with sash of ciel blu« taffeta. „ . , Miss Whyte’s frock was of cameo pint flowered ninon. Miss Molly Simmonds was wearing ? black ring velvet gown with hand-paintec roses embroidering the front panel of tin skirt. _ . . , Miss Alison Blewden wore flesh pml embroidered net over satin. Miss Marcella Davies was in a blaci georgette frock embroidered with blacl and crystal beads. Miss Joan Nesbit had on a pretty frocl of Cuban orange satin beaute. Miss B. Humphries was wearing a gro grain taffeta gown in peach pink and gob to Mis*s *Molloy*s smart black and whitfrock was of bead embroidered geor ” e yiiss Ross had on an embossed lacgown of absinthe green and gold.
