PROFITABLE MEETING DARGAVILI.E DOES WELL The report presented by the secretary of the Dargavill© Racing Club to the stewards of the meeting held, in February showed that, after meeting all expenses, there remained a profit of £550 5s lOd, which was considered very satisfactory. The matter of selecting a more suitable date for the race meeting was discusesd at length, and ii was eventually decided to approach tne Whangarei Club with a request that the Whangarei spring meeting be held a week earlier, so that Dargaville could foilow a week earlier than usual, and allow owners and trainers to attend the Waikato meeting on November 15 and 17. ON MATAMATA TRACKS THE JACK JUMPER SPELLED Prior to journeying to Tauranga for the Bay of Plenty Jockey Club’s meeting the Jack Jumper had been doing particularly well in his training on the Matamata tracks and the connections of the horse fancied their chance. The Valkyrian gelding proved a failure, however, and he will now be treated to a long spell. Valreina, who is attached to R. Martin's stable, has returned to the tracks and is receiving a preparation which will enable her to compete at he forthcoming Waikato meeting at Te Rapa She is proving anything but an easy mare to train, and at the present rate of progress it will be some time before she is at the top of her form.
OHINEMURI RECOMMISSIONED The Paeroa owner-trainer, TI. I. Spinks, mad© a visit to Auckland earlier in the week, and he reports that Ohinemuri has been recommissioned following on a three months spell The decision to treat this speedy miler to a respite came about as the result of the mare cutting herself about the legs when she fell while contesting the Taumarunui Cup at that meeting last December. A. the time I Ohinemuri was showing really good j form, several placed performances having gone down to her credit and it was generally anticipated that she would add to her record In the Taumarunui Cup. Providing she comes back sound and well she will do further °ood sei vice for her connections, for , her speed is unquestioned, while she is improving in stamina with age.
