GRAVE POWER SHORTAGE
NEW PLYMOUTH SUFFERS TRAMS AND LIGHTS RESTRICTED From Our Otva Correspondent NEW PLYMOUTH, Today. Although rain fell during the week the shortage of electric power in X’ew Plymouth has again become serious and tho borough council lias been informed by the Taranaki KlcctricPower Board that, as the water level in the Tariki dam is falling rapidly •t will be necessary for the board to reduce its assistance to the borough. The council’s supply is small and the shortage has compelled a restricted tram service. Last evening all the street lights in the suburbs were cut olf to increase the supply to the shopping area on the late closing night.
