The treasurer reported that the bridge afternoon, held in the Point 1 Erin Tea Kiosk on Wednesday afternoon, was a great success; .CIO had already been handed over to the appeal. The conveners of the five groups gave 1 in most satisfactory reports, the trea- • surer congratulating every worker on the committee. One hundred and fifty > pounds toward the quota of £250 was , now in hand. The offer of a jumble sale to be or- ; ganised by Mesdames Flynn and Galla- > her was gratefully accepted, the date ’ and place to be advertised. ; The secretary was instructed to send ’ letters of appreciation to Mrs. A. Goldie, Mrs. Gully and the firm of \V. ■ Lambourne for their help in connec- ; tion with the bridge drive. It was decided to meet again next Thursday. April 3, at 2 p.m. PARNELL BRANCH FORMED At a public meeting held in the Parnell Public Library on Tuesday, it was decided to form a Parnell district branch of the New Zealand Obstetrical Endowment Fund. The following officers were elected: President, Mrs. A. J. Friedlander: sev- ; rotary, Miss Morris; treasurer, Mrs. T. Bloodworth. A house-to-house canvass was decided upon and it was hoped that many donations would bo sent direct to the treasurer. COMING-OF-AGE l GAY FUNCTION AT MANGERE EAST MUSIC AND DANCING The residence of Mr. David Kay, “Glenisford,” Massey Road, Man* fc gerc East, was the scene of a delightfully gay function on Wednesday evening, on the occasion of the coming of age of his daughter, Dorothy. The rooms were * prettily decorated with masses of gaily coloured blooms. During the evening a number of musical items were contributed by Miss N. Dryland, Mrs. C. A. Coghlan, and Mr. John Craig. The novelty competitions were won by Misses N. Dryland and Barbara Ford. The toast of the guest of honour ■was proposed by Mr. S. S. Hamilton, and Mr. Kay responded. Miss Dorothy Kay wore a pretty frock of art blue rayon, with trimmings of gold lace, and finished with a blue posy. Among the guests were: Mrs. C. A. Coghlan, wearing a frock of black and beige georgette; Mrs. B. E. Ford, patterned crepe de chine; Mrs. Larkin, frock of patterned silk elise; Mrs. E. J. Price, sapphire blue marocain; Miss Muriel Kay, electric blue crepe, de chine; Miss Marjorie Kay, paon blue silk repp, with trimming of ivory lace; Miss Ivy Spencer, pale shaded crepe de chine and lace: Miss Ruby Reeves, flame shaded georgette, with shawl to tone; Miss D. Hancock, ivory crepe de chine, finished with blue shoulder posy; Miss N. S. Dryland, orchid pink crepe de chine, and silver lace frock; Miss Norma Chapman, pillarbox red crepe de chine, with velvet shoulder posy; Miss Dorothy Blandford, frock of apple green crepe de chine; Miss Patti Ford, salmon pink crepe de chine; Miss Ruth Embling, sedge green bengaline; Miss Joyce Bridge, ashes of roses pink crepe de chine; Miss Jean Bridge, crocus mauve crepe de chine: Miss Pearl Reeves, frock of crepe de chine; Miss Irene Bridge, frock of mauve crepe de chine and ivory lace; Miss Gladys Mayes, lettuce green crepe de chine, with silver trimmings; Miss Barbara Ford, anklelength frock of midnight blue crepe de chine.

EVENING WEDDING

BRIDE IN PALE PINK McDonald—jenkinson On Wednesday evening, at St. Matthew’s Church, the marriage v/as celebrated of Gladys May, elder daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Jenkinson, Grey Lynn, to Roy, elder son of Mr. and Mrs. G. McDonald, Grey Lynn. The Rev. Grant Cowan performed the ceremony and Mr. Philpot presided at tho organ. The bride, who entered the church with her father, wore a dainty frock of pale pink georgette and silver lace, with hand-painted designs in silver. Pier veil was of pale pink tulle and she carried a bouquet of pink and white flowers. Miss Marie Jenkinson, sister of the bride, was bridesmaid and wore a frock of forest green georgette with handpainted scalloped hem, and she wore a diamente julliett cap. Her bouquet was of pale pink flowers. Mr. Clive McDonald acted as best man. After the ceremony a reception was held at the Farmers’ Trading Tearooms, where Mrs. Jenkinson received h ? r quests wearing a navy ensemble of silk repp and black bankok hat. She carried a bouquet in autumn shades. Mrs. McDonald, mother of the bridegroom. wore a gown of midnight blue bengaline with a navy hat, and she carried a bouquet of red flowers
