CHARGED WITH ASSAULT From Cur Own Correspondent TAUMARUNUI, Thursday. At the Magistrate’s Court today Mr. R. M. Watson, S.M., decided that a blow given in anger with an umbrella was worth 30s, and fined accordingly. Alfred Cribb proceeded against Samuel Bishara for asasult, alleging that Bishara had used strong language to him over money maters and had then smitten him over the chin with an umbrella so forcibly that he had had to have two stitches inserted in the wound. The defendant admitted that hard words had passed, but claimed that nothin*? untoward occurred till Cribb allegedly used an insulting term to him. It was then that the gamp came into action. In addition to the fine, defendant was ordered to pay costs and medical expenses.
