INJURIES PROVE FATAL

MOTOR-CAR SUPS FROM JACKS DEATH AT HOSPITAL Mansell Hill, aged 17, of Dominion Road, who suffered serious injuries to his head when the motor-car he was cleaning at the residence of Mr. T. R. Brett, of 54 St. Stephens Avenue, Parnell, slipped off the jacks and struck him, died at the Auckland Hospital yesterday afternoon. Hill had raised the front of the car with two jacks and was lying underneath attending to the under-carriage, when the car slipped off the jacks and he was struck on liis head by a front spring. The injured youth was removed to the hospital, and although at one period his condition appeared satisfactory, ho took a turn for the worse and died later. Hill had been unemployed for some time and had recently been given casual employment by Mr. Brett. EVIDENCE AT INQUEST An inquest was opened this morning. After the body had been identified as that of Mansell Henry Edmund Hill, Mr. Trevor Brett gave evidence. His car had been jacked up with two jacks, he said. Both the front wheels were removed. The car was in gear, the brakes were on and the back wheels were blocked with stones. The coroner, Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., suggested that the jerk when the wheels were removed had caused the car to slip from the jacks. An adjournment was made sine
