UNIMPROVED RATING IN DEVONPORT ANNUAL VALUES SUGGESTED “The system of rating on unimproved values has outlived its usefulness in Devonport, and we would be doing more justice to the borough if we rated on annual values,” said the Mayor, Mr. E. Mr. Aid - ridge was giving a resume of the business transacted at the recent Municipal Association Conference in Invercargill, when the incidence of rating systems, particularly of unimproveu rating where rural lands were included in boroughs, was thoroughly examined. Opinion leaned to making a percentage adjustment in valuations for these rural lands, where the area exceeded two acres, said the Mayor.
