NOT TO BE ABOLISHED Press Association WELLINGTON, Tuesdu> li is not proposed to abolish the automatic letter-stamping 1 machines at present in use. but after the end of this year no more machines of tin present type will be installed. This statment was made by the Chief Postmaster, Mr v J. M. McLean at a meeting of the council of the Wellington Chamber of Commerce this evening. A letter was received from the Palmerston chamber drawing attention to trouble to which business firms would be put if they had to instal new machines. The chief postmaster said that the charge which the department proposed to make had been fully explained, but it had not bee made clear, however, that there was no intention t«* interfere with the machines already in
