CLOTHING ON FIRE

YOUTH SEVERELY BURNED When the glue pot which John Stanley Latto, aged 18, was heating over a gas jet at the paint factory of Phillipps and Impey, Ltd., Newmarket, suddenly burst into flames, he received extensive burns about his limbs and body. With his clothing on fire Latto rushed from the building and rolled on the grass in an endeavour to extinguish the flames, but it was not until he was wrapped in a blanket that this was accomplished. Latto was removed to the hospital by the ambulance and he was found to be suffering from burns on the back, both legs, and one arm. His condition this morning is regarded as not serious. i Burns about the face were suffered by another workman who was passing at the time of the accident, but he rushed for blankets and followed Latto from the building. The outbreak in the factory was quickly suppressed.
