FAMOUS PONY DIES, AGED 32 YEARS Racing: men with memories of the old Lilybridge (now Harold Park), will remember that smart pony Jimmy Governor, comments a Sydney writer. He was ono of the best that raced there. Jimmy Governor died a few days ago in the paddocks of Mr. .Tack Taylor at Te Nuter, Bega, where he was living a retired life. Twenty-live years ago the gelding was owned by the late Mr. Thomas Richardson. Later the pony became a champion hunter, and won all types of these events on the far south coast, where he was unbeatable. Jimmy Governor was 32 years of age, and has joined the ranks of the long-livers among racehorses. Ben Bolt, which won 155 races, died recently aged 37. Other long-livers among racehorses were:—Shamrock 33, Janus 34, Matchem 32, Woodpecker 31, Sir Walter 30, Touchstone 30, and Hermit 29.
