DOMINION CHAMPIONSHIP
CINDER TRACK CONTESTS MEETING AT WELLINGTON Much interest will centre around the first cinder-track championships to be held in New Zealand, which will be decided tomorrow at the Kilbirnie Stadium, Wellington. This track is the home of broadsiding in the Dominion. having been opened in 1928, and throughout this season has been extremely popular, the average attendance being more than 10.000. Auckland’s three representatives will travel South by train tonight. They are Alf Mattson, the Auckland champion, Bill Allen and Alf Way. The latter has been riding only a short time, but has shown remarkable improvement. These three will meet men from Wellington, including the redoubtable Wally Kilminster, who rode so well here at Western Springs. There will also be representatives from Christchurch, and riders from the new track at Dunedin.
