SPORTS CLUB WITHDRAWS

AFFILIATION WITH A.C.U. CANCELLED RIDERS NOT AFFECTED Following the meeting of the Auckland Automobile Racing Club at Henning’s Speedway, Mangere, on March 8, at which all riders affiliated with the New Zealand Auto Cycle Union were unable to take part, the Sports MotorCycle Club decided to cancel its affiliation with the Union. Officials had given it as their opinion that the club, because of its connection with the governing body, should refuse to admit unaffiliated riders to its membership. Rather than take this step, a general meeting of the club decided to sever its connection with the A.C.U., although many of its members will still be associated with the union. The two other motor-cycle clubs in Auckland have never been affiliated, and race meetings are run under rules drawn up specially for the course.
