OFFICIAL AUCKLAND VISIT

GOVERNOR TO ARRIVE ON TUESDAY PUBLIC RECEPTION ARRANGED New Zealand's fourth GovernorGeneral, Lord Bledisloe, and Lady Bledisloe, will arrive in Auckland on the morning of Tuesday, April 1, and will be tendered a public reception in the Town Hall in the evening. On Wednesday their Excellencies will visit several institutions, leaving in the evening for Wellington:

Baildon, lias received a telegram from the official secretary stating that their Excellencies desire to take the earliest opportunity of making the acquaintance of the Mayor, the councillors, and the citizens of Auckland, and it is with that object in view that they will visit Auckland • next week, arriving by the Limited express next Tuesday morning, if his Worship can see no reason to advise to the contrary. Their Excellencies will leave on the following evening for Wellington. They regret the shortness of their stay on this occasion,’ due toM&envAlasire io visit the three main centres before Easter. Their Excellencies hope if exigencies of public business permit to go into residence at Government House in Auckland a little later on, when they Will have further opportunity of acquainting themselves with the citizens.

The Town Clerk. Mr. ,T. S. Brigham, has replied stating that the Mayor will be pleased to meet their Excellencies, and that lie desires to tender a public reception in the Town Hall at 8 p.m. The Mayor suggests that or. Wednesday Lord and Lady Bledisloe visit the Hospital, the Infirmary, the Veterans’ Home, the Evelyn Firth Home and other institutions, and also places of scenic interest. At the public reception the Mayor will deliver an address of welcome to their Excellencies, to which the Gov-ernor-General will reply. The Municipal Choir and the City organist will be in attendance, and it is possible that there will be vocal items. No invitations will be issued, but seats will be reserved on the platform for members of Parliament, chairmen of local bodies, representatives of the Army and Navy, and Government officials.
