PIGEON FLYING

ONEHUNGA CLUB All*. B. D. Smith scored his fourth successive win on Saturday in the Onehunga Club’s young . bird race from Alataroa, an airline distance of 191 miles. Liberated in fine weather, the pigeons arrived home practically in one flock, the winner covering the journey in five hours. Air. Smith, who is but a young member of the club, was heartily congratulated on his run of successes, which are the result of characteristic thoroughness. The placed birds were: All*. B. D. Smiths’ Lady Successful, 1,112 yards a minute, 1; Air. J. Wallace’s Uhlan’s Prince, 3,110 yards, 2; Air. W. K. Larking’s Flying Prince, 1,108 yards, 3. Also competed: Alessrs. Langtbn Bros.* Royalty, 1.105.9 yards; Air. N. Paddy’s Gold Light, 1.105.5 yards; Air. W. Sargent’s Headache, 1,078 yards; Air. T. Collins’s Bonny Logan, 856 yards. The race next week will be for the single young bird championship cup, when the competitors will be released at Paekakariki, a distance of 286 miles. WAITE MATA CLUB The Waitemata Flying Club contested its second young bird race from To Awamutu, an air-line distance of 86 miles, for a special prize donated by Air. F. C. Olliver, sen. Forty-three birds competed. Results: Air. C. Olliver's d p c Sky Hawk, 1,185 yards a minute, 1; All*. H. F. Crowhurst’s y h Yellow Princess, 1,178 yards, 2; Air. S. Gorman’s r c c Lord Pencarrow, 1,173 yards, 3. The club will contest a race next week from Te Kuiti for a trophy presented by Air. C. Olliver, jun. POINT CHEVALIER CLUB. The Point Chevalier Pigeon Club flew its second race of the second series on Saturday from Te Awamutu in ideal flying weather. Eight lofts competed., Air. L. Cantell’s entry has won the last three races on end. Results: Air. L. Cantell’s r p c Ace High, 3,284 yards per minute, 1; Air. A. Harris’s b c h Star Dust, 1,267 yards, 2; Air. A. Simmond’s b b li Blue Lupin, 1,260 yards, .3, * AUCKLAND CLUB Tlio Auckland Racing Pigeon Club flew its second race of the second series from Te Awamutu in fine weather. Ten lofts competed.
