FATAL PETROL FIRE
MECHANIC DIES FROM BURNS GARAGE PIT TRAGEDY Press Association WANGANUI, Sunday. With terrible burns about the head and the upper part of his body. Frederick Arthur Troughton, aged 25, a married man, was admitted to the Wanganui Hospital about 9 o’clock on Saturday morning, and died early this morning. Deceased, who was the only son of Air. and Mrs. F. Troughton. of Wellington, was a mechanic in the garage of C. C. Brownie and Company. Wanganui. He was occupied in draining petrol from the tank of a car prior to doing repair work when he became enveloped in flames as a result of the petrol igniting. As he was in the pit under the car Troughton could scramble out only with difficulty. The flames were extinguished by his fellow workers, but not before the unfortunate man had suffered terrible Injuries. Deceased leaves a widow and one child.
