BLOW FOR POLITICIANS
SALARY CUT PROJECTED IN N.S.W. STATE CIVIL SERVANTS, AS WELL Reed. 11.5 a.m. SYDNEY, Tod»y. State Ministers are convinced that the salaries of Cabinet Ministers, members of Parliament and public servants must be reduced. The amount has not yet been determined, but it is believed it will be 10 per cent. The Government wiil probably decide to revert to a 48-hour week in the public service, and also a five-and-a-half-day week for the administrative staffs. The police, school teachers and railway and tramway workers will all be included in the scheme. The secretary of the Public Service Association announces his organisation will oppose any reduction in salaries. The Teachers’ Federation is similarly minded.
