INDIA TO ENGLAND
INDIAN FLIER QUALIFIES FOR £SOO PRIZE MOHAN SINGH’S ILL LUCK LONDON, Friday. The first Indian to fly to England from India, Mr. Chawli, landed near Thetford, Norfolk, today. He said he left India on March 3. He was detained at many places by fog, rain and wind, and had three forced landings. His flying time was 70 hours. It is recalled that the Aga Khan offered a prize of £SOO for the first Indian to fly between England and India.

Singh was forced down shortly after the start of his flight, and although he made a second attempt several weeks later, he was dogged by ill-luck, and presumably abandoned the project.
