DATE OF ELECTION
PROCEDURE TO BE FOLLOWED Following receipt of Mr. Jenkins’s nomination and the notification of the vacancy in the Gazette, the Speaker will issue his warrant to the clerk of the writs for the by-election. It is customary for the date of a bv-election to be announced prior to the issue of the writ, and it is probable that the Prime Minister, Sir Joseph Ward, alter consultation witn his colleagues, will follow that course. The writ will name the date for the | closing of the nominations and for the
date of the election. It is returnable i within 40 days. The choosing of the | date of the election will necessitate 1 some care as the Easter holidays are j only four weeks away. | The official figures for the Parnell i seat at the last General Election are j as follow: Mr. H. SELECTING ORGANISER From Our Own Correspondent HAMILTON, Today. At an executive meeting in Hamilton yesterday of the Reform Party delegates from the South Auckland group of electorates, it was decided to ask Mr. D. Hebenton, who recently returned from England, to accept the position as organiser of the group.
