GENERAL NOTES
Messrs. T. Fazaekerley and Sons (Sockburn) have notified Mr. Fred. Brown, chief Government poultry expert. that in the event of the Government’s deciding to forward teams of fowls for exhibition at the World’s Poultry Congress, to be held at the Crystal Palace, London, in July, they will donate 12 White Leghorn pullets to be selected by the Government poultry experts or any other qualified persons, the birds to be sold after the congress to help pay expenses. Messrs. Fazaekerley have a flock of over 3,500 pullets, and I feel sure that if their offer be accepted the pullets selected will do credit to the Dominion’s White Leghorns. Mr. J. Cummings (Christchurch) has just shipped a consignment of Black Minorcas, English White Leghorns and Black Rosecomb bantams to Mr. A. Messervey, Sydney. Mr. Messervey is intending exhibiting the birds at the Sydney Royal Show. The Christchurch Bantam and Fancy Pigeon Clubs have decided to entertain Messrs. Tipper and Smalley, two well-known English fanciers who are with the English farmers’ party at present touring the Dominion. A show of both bantams and fancy pigeons will also be held to enable the visiting fanciers to inspect the quality of birds in the Dominion.
