WELCOME TENNIS CLUB ORGANISES SUCCESSFUL ANNUAL FUNCTION
QUEEN CROWNED A highly successful annual dance was held by the Welcome Tennis Club in the Symondsville Studio last evening, when the results of the club queen carnival were a n no u need. The Queen carnival, which had been held in aid of club funds, resulted in the election of .Miss Gladys Ruck, with 1.T04 votes. The. winner was crowned and presented with a beautiful bouduet from the club members. Aliss Eileen Gay and Aliss Olive Smith, who were also contestants, received nosegays as a mark of appreciation. Chinese lanterns and trails of greenery decorated the studio, and Bendali’s Collegians supplied excellent music. Aliss Gladys Ruck, the queen, was in an ivory chiffon frock with beaded embroideries and wore a shoulder spray of natural flowers. Aliss Olive Smith’s frock was of leafgreen crepe de chine and lace, and Aliss Eileen Gay wore ivory crepe C.: chine appliqued in floral design. Among those present were:— Airs. Aliller, wearing a gown ; black satin, fringed and beaded; Mrs Scott who wore a gown of flame satin with hem of gold lace: Airs. T\ Shepherd, uii-‘-•ven length frock of lido, blue georgetteMrs. Ruck, black lace with shoulder spray oi natural flowers; Airs. Bell, black satin and lace embroidered with gold paillettes; Mrs. Pilgrim, rose taffeta; Mrs Gav black marocain embossed in silver - Airs’ Masey, lilac beaded georgette; Airs.’cfotobed, black marocain gown with handpainted spray. Aliss Iloweil, whse ivory georgette frock was banded with black taffeta; Aliss T Furchas, cameo pink georgette and lace; Miss Robinson, orchid tinted taffeta and georgette; Aliss James, in a pretty gown or flowered chiffon mounted on silver lame; Aliss Town-ley, jqponica pink taffeta; Aliss G. Townley, phlox pink taffeta; Aliss Jeffson, who wore a bide frock with rose shoulder spray; Miss Williamson, cherry red georgette, with painted hem; Aliss E. May, larkspur blue satin frock; Aliss Gimlet, indian red georgette. IX BLACK AXD GOLD Aliss AlcKiiiley, black and gold lame with a black georgette skirt; Aliss Thorne, pink crepe de chine frock embroidered with blue forget-me-nots. ATiss ATcKay, who wore turquoise chiffon with pink embroideries; ; Aliss Freeborne, sea-foam green taffeta opening over silver lace; Aliss K. Gow, rose pink georgette relieved with blue; Aliss Al. Jones, blue lace frock with mandarin blue haari coat; Aliss Hambling, french blue georgette frock;; Aliss Russell, bouffant orange taffeta gown, bound with Mack; Aliss D. Scott, japonica pink frilled taffeta; Aliss B. Beale, spotted and frilled net frock; Aliss A. Williamson, phlox pink georgette gown with diamente girdle; Aliss Spinley, blue georgette with bine and yellow shoulder spray; Aliss R. Stevens. brick red flowered ninon: Aliss R. Smith, black velvet and taffeta.
