SWIMMING RECORD BROKEN
N.Z. BACKSTROKE TIME Press Association CHRISTCHURCH, Today. In an attempt on the New Zealand 200 metres backstroke record of 2min. 57sec. held by himself, L. J. Mooreliouse tonight swam the distance in 2min. 55 l-ssec. Three Canterbury records were also broken. In the 440yds intermediate boys’, Me* Conville, in 6m. 2 3-ss, took 10 l-ss. off the record. In the 50yds men’s freestyle. the previous record of 27 l-ssec. was beaten by A. Dalton in 26 2-ssec. Stokes beat his previous 100yds record of 59 2-ssec by 2-ssec.
