Woman Attacked By Bag-Snatcher

ROBBERY IN DOMAIN ASSAILANT NOT CAPTURED Springing' from the bushes which line the Auckland Domain. Drive, a man threw Mrs. Isa McKay, a visitor from Sydney, to the ground, snatched her handbag, and made his escape. The handbag contained Mrs. McKay’s return ticket to Sydney, about £2 in cash and some personal belongings. A thorough search of the Domain by police and detectives shortly afterward failed to locate the assailant. Mrs. McKay visited the War Memorial Museum yesterday afternoon in company with Mr. E. P. Warren, retired Deputy-Public Trustee in Auckland, who lives at 3 Glen Road, Remuera. They had afternoon tea at the kiosk and left for the Parnell entrance to the Domain Drive about 3.30 o’clock. The attack was made shortly before they reached the United Club’s tennis courts. THROWN INTO DITCH A man sprang from the bushes and flung himself upon Mrs. McKay, throwing her heavily into a where a short struggle took place, Mrs. McKay’s clothing being torn. Before Mr. Warren could make a move the man snatched Mrs. McKay’s handbag and escaped. As the tennis courts were deserted there was nobody to follow him. A bruised knee and a severely sprained ankle were suffered by Mrs. McKay. Together with Mr. Warren she was taken to the police station and a search was immediately commenced. Mrs. McKay is staying at 11, Cambridge Terrace, Devonport.
