DERATING A. AND P. LANDS

NOT PRACTICABLE | For some time now various sub- ! branches of the New Zealand Farmers’ Union in the Auckland Province | have held the view that something ! should be done to relieve A. and P. Association lands from liability for rates. Last evening the Auckland executive of the union discussed a letter from the Minister of Lands on the * question. The Minister stated that the advisability of derating A. and P. Association lands had been investigated by his department, and it had been decided that the scheme was not practicable. In England, where A. and P. Association lands were derated, the proportion of such lands to the whole was negligible.
