REMAND FOR INQUIRIES DRUNK AND ABUSIVE Pleading guilty to charges of drunkenness, theft and using obscene language, William Kirk was remanded at the Police Court this morning until Monday, Chief-Detective Hammond remarking that he wished to inquire further into the circumstances of the theft. Kirk, a labourer, aged 56, admitted being found drunk in Albert Street, using obscene language and stealing a coat and cheque book valued at £5 and belonging to Peter Smith. Accused was fined 10, in default 48 hours’ imprisonment, for drunkenness.
