WOOL STILL STEADY
SECOND SOUTHLAND SALE VERY LITTLE PASSING Press Association INVERCARGILL, Monday. j At the second Southland wool sale ! tonight, a record catalogue of 16,000 j bales was offered to practically a full ! bench of buyers. Bidding was keen throughout, but < no variation in values compared with j the first sale held at the end of Janu- j ary was apparent, nor was there any j appreciable difference from last week’s prices at Dunedin. A great deal of competition came j from Bradford, and Continental buyers j operated occasionally, while local I manufacturers and speculators appeared to be continually in the market. Comparatively few’ lots were passed in, growers were apparently realising there was little chance of disposing of clips in event of them being held over, as this is the last fixture of the season in Southland. The official range of prices was as follows: Medium half bred: Average, to 9d; inferior, 73d to S£d. Fine Crossbred: Super, 9d to 9£d; average, 7£d to B|d; inferior, 6|d to 7£d. Medium Crossbred: Super, 7|d to 82>d: average, 7id to 71d; inferior, s£d to 6.? d. BELLIES AND PIECES Crossbred: Good to super, 4d to sd; ; low to medium. 3d to 4d. | Crutchings: Medium to good. 4£d to GAd; inferior, 3Ad to 4id. i Locks: Crossbred, 2ld to 3d. AWAITING WOOL SALES Reed. 10.45 a.m. LONDON, Monday. Bradford business is at a standstill, as everyone is awaiting the opening of the London wool sales tomorrow.
