SUCCESSFUL FUNCTION AT ROTORUA
A very successful function was held in the Majestic Ballroom, Rotorua, on Friday evening, when the officers and N.C.O.’s and men of the Fourth Field Battery, N.Z.A. (How.) entertained their many friends at a dance. The hall had been decorated in the battery colours, red and blue, with the name of the battery over the entrance in large letters. The men, who were mostly old Xing's and Grammar boys, were in flannels and college blazers. The supper room was decorated with flags lent by the Borough Council, and red, white and blue streamers, and the tables were crossed with the battery colours intermingled with vases of red and blue flowers. Among those present were: Major W. F. Stillwell (Brigade Commander), Major Gould (padre). Captains A. A. CUrrey (0.C.) and Elliott, Lieutenants Hume, Mander, Menzie, Lewis and Olds. Committee members were:—SergeantMajor Harrop, Sergeant Pirrit, Sergeant Fenwick and Sergeant Hinton, assisted by F. White. Local officers, Major Sumner, Major Herrold and Captain Knight. Among the guests were:—Mesdames Sumner, sen., W. Sumner, S. H. Hay. J. D. Davys, H. Henderson. La Trobe Hill, Parker, Herrold, T. Mellsop, Simmons, Meredith, McLennan, Fraser, W'. Walker, White; Misses Evans, Bertram, A. Huie (Auckland), M. Fenwick, J. Geisen, O. Dawson, Hays, Millet, Drummond, Owens (2), Higgins, C. Holland, M. Cooney, V. Holland, R. and F. Bell, P. and V. St. Clair, Lasenby,, O’Reilly (2), Lawson, K. Welsh, E. Clarke, H. Nixon, Brown, Birtleson, Fricke, Q. Mau. Aston, Simpson, Hills, Isdale, Vugler, Price, Williams, Cummings, Wratliall, R. and I. Clarke, Marcroft, Cronin, Ballock, McGrath, Gilbertson, Downey (2), Berge (2), E. Wilson, Matthews (2), Mason (2).
