ONEHUNGA BRANCH MEETS The Onehunga W.C.T.U. held a meeting in the Methodist Schoolroom recently. Mrs. Stacey, in the unavoidable absence of the president, presided. A vote of sympathy was passed with the daughter and family of the late Airs. Ormiston, who was the oldest member of the union, all members standing. The chairwoman reminded members that the school committee elections take place next month. The union has taken an interest in these for a number of years and has three members on the present local committees. Mesdames Mountjoy and Stacey are willing to stand for election again this j year. Alention was made of the Bible-in-Schools on the Nelson system, in the Onehunga school, and the possibility of the same being done in the To Papapa School. It was also stated that the present committee would be going out of office at the end of this month and it would be a matter that could be brought before the new committee, when elected, for its consideration. During the afternoon two recitations were given by Aliss "Wells and a paper was *read by Airs. Craig on ‘The Life of Frances Willard.” The Kumeu branch of the W.C.T.U. held a meeting on Friday afternoon in the Public Hall, Airs. J. "Wilson presiding. A paper was read by Airs. R. Martin on the life of Frances Willard, and Airs. Wilson gave an address on “Sunday Observance.” A report of activities during the summer months was received, showing that parcels of clothing had been forw’arded to deserving cases. Arrangements were made to hold a “Bring and Buy” afternoon in May in aid of the Frances Willard Home.
