WELLINGTON CRICKET
MEMENTOES FOR THREE PLAYERS . BATTING IN SHIELD MATCH Press Association WELLINGTON, Today. The Wellington Cricket Association has decided to have copies of the cartoon depicting Lowry, McLeod and McGirr as huge rocks on the Basin Reserve, enlarged, mounted, and presented to these three players as mementoes of their batting in the shield match between Wellington and Auckland. The association has also decided to send a letter of thanks to Lowry for his valuable services this season, riot only to Wellington, but to Dominion cricket. The association also had a discussion on the question of securing a coach. Finance was the difficulty in the way, and the feeling was that a man should not be engaged till his salary could bo paid from income. It was therefore decided to open a fund to provide the capital amount which was estimated at from £4,000 to £5,000. Meanwhile the selector is to be consulted as to the best means of improving practices before representative matches.
