FAREWELL LETTERS
RECEIVED FROM GOVERNOR i AND ARCHBISHOP i COUNCIL’S QUARTERLY MEETING Letters from Sir Charles Fergusson, late Governor-General of New Zealand, and from Archbishop Averill, who has left for the Lambeth Conference in England, were received at the quarterly meeting of the Council of Christian Congregations at St. David’s Church Hall last evening. The letter from Sir Charles is as follows: “At the moment of departure I write to ask you to convey to your executive my grateful thanks for the message which you have conveyed to her Excellency and myself on our departure from New Zealand. “I need hardly say that such words as you have addressed us give us great pleasure and satisfaction, even though we dare not and cannot feel that they are in any way deserved. It' wo have helped your executive and council, and others who like them, give their energy and lives to further the advancement of God’s Kingdom on earth, then we are thankful. “In any case, your kind words will be a pleasant memory for us, and I would ask you to express our grateful thanks to those whom you represent.” ARCHBISHOP’S LETTER Archbishop Averill’s letter read as follows: Please accept my sincere appreciation for the kind message conveyed by the joint secretaries on behalf of the Council of Christian Congregations re the visit of my wife and myself to the Old Country. I anticipate a very busy time in England, bLit none the less an interesting and, I hope, profitable one. I hope that I may be able to give to the council some impressions of mv visit on my return. All good wishes for the work and witness of th© council.”
