MONEY BY FRAUD
ESCAPED MENTAL PATIENT IN COURT SEVERAL FIRMS DECEIVED Press Association CHRISTCHURCH, Today. Alexander Harrison, aged 22, a motor mechanic, was charged with obtaining money by fraud on eight counts. He pleaded guilty and was remanded for sentence. Counsel said the offences were committed at Oamaru and Christchurch and were the aftermath of accused’s escape from Seacliff. where he had been a mental patient. It was remarkable to think that large business firms bad been deceived by accused. His appearance was against any suggestion that he was the son of a rich man. Doctors had said that the offences were probably due to ac--cused having been injured on the head in a motor accident.
