BANDIT-MURDERERS
ROB BANK AND KILL TWO SHERIFFS CAUGHT AFTER HARD CHASE NEW YORK, Saturday. Three desperate bandits at Eades, Colorado, killed two policemen and wounded four others, after a raid upon the State Bank of Manter, Kansas, where they stole £I,OOO. A sheriff, Hickman, was killed when the posse attempted to stop the bandits’ motor-car, which was speeding through the town to the western mountain passes. The robbers then tried to double back into Kansas by a circuitous route. Another sheriff, William Cole, and three officers attempted to stop (hem when they were crossing the highway at Cheyenne Wells, but the bandits killed Cole, wounded two of his men, captured their car, and headed eastward. Eventually the three men were surrounded and surrendered to machinegun fire after having led the police a | hard chase through three States for j 27 hours. All were escaped prisoners j previously convicted for murder ! The police will demand the death I penalty for their latest murders.
