CUT IN MEN’S PAY
STATE RAILWAY MOVE IN N.SAV. SAVING £800,090 A YEAR Reed. 10.50 a.m. SYDNEY, Today. The State Government is said to be contemplating a change in the railway service covering employees governed by the Federal Arbitration Court awards, under which they are paid for 4S houis a week, though they work only 44 hours. It is now proposed to pay them for the actual time worked, thereby saving £BOO,OOO annually.
