SUCCESSFUL APPEAL

A successful garden fair to raise funds for the Obstetrical Society’s endowment plan was held at the home of Airs. C. F, Gardner, of New Lynn, on Saturday afternoon. The function was organised by the executive committee of the Ney Lynn and Titirang* district, who had adopted this plan of raising their £SO quota for the general fund. The fair was opened by Air. C. I*’. Gardner, Alayor of New Lynn, who gave a short address. The New Lynn Orchestra played selections during afternoon tea. which was attractively laid out in the sitting-room. Those in charge of the afternoon tea arrangements were Airs. MacFarlane and Airs. W. A. Bishop. Competitions were arranged by Airs. BrookeTaylor, the ladies in charge of the various stalls being:—Airs. Davidson, jumble stall; Airs. Lawson, sweets and teas; Airs. Parry, cakes; Airs. Andrews, produce stall.
