UNITED BOOT TRADES The combined united boot trades of Auckland held the annual picnic at Pino Island on Saturday, about 600 attending. A good sports programme was keenly contested, the results being as follow;—Apprentices’ handicap, 120 yards: J. Cargill 1, D. Weaver, 2, D. Cole 3. Female apprentices," 50-yards: Miss Mack 1, Miss Beryljeff 2, United Loot Trades’ Handicap, 100 yards, for Wood’s Cup: J. Cargill 1, G. Swinton 2, V. Thomas-3. One mile handicap: R. Pugh 1. Barnes 2, A. P. White 3. Boot Manufacturers’ 50 yards handicap: T Bridgens and F. Oates, dead heat. Clickers’ 100 yards handicap: G. Swinton 1, R. Monks 2. Girls, under 16: J. White 1, M. Taylor 2. Old Buffers, 50 yards: E. Bridgens 1, C. Carson 2, J. Burrell 3. Boys, 14 to 16: Lowrie 1, Fredica 2, Underwood 3. Married women, 50 yards: Mrs. Matthews 1, Mrs. Author 2. 100 yards handicap (pressmen, clickers, benchmen and finishers) : G. Swinton 1, S. Pugh 2, T. Sullivan 3. HEARDS, LIMITED STAFF The employees of Heards, Ltd., held the annual picnic at Motutapu on Saturday, when an attendance of about 500 spent an enjoyable day. An excellent sports programme was carried out. results being as follow:—Heards' handicap: First heat: B. Marshall 1, Eaddy 2, C. Morris 3. Second heat: W. Davis 1: H. Marshall 2, J. Kildaire 3. Final: W. Davis 1, 33. Marshall 2, H. Marshall 3. Youths’ handicap: J. Kildaire 1, c. Morris 2. L. Stanaway 3. Women's race, under IS years: Miss G. Amer 1, Miss T. Young 2, Miss D. Reid 3. Women’s race, over IS years: Miss M. Calender 3, Miss E. Dobbmson " Miss D. Herdson 3. Married men’s race: Hoggwood 1, H. Marshall 2. Marfled women’s race: Mrs. Heard 1, Mrs. Green 2. Women vistors’ race: Mrs. Whitley 1, Mrs. Hawkes 2. Three-leg-ged race: Miss D. Herdson and W. Dyer 1. Men’s race, over 40: T. Carter 1. Men’s novelty race: W. Dyer 1, S. Horne 2. A tug-of-war between the employees of Heards and the visitors was won by the former.
